The Great East London Art Audit was a year-long campaign launched by East London Fawcett in 2012 in order to assess the representation of women in London’s art world. Despite the persistent inequality our results revealed, the audit campaign also celebrated and took inspiration from the women who have achieved success, as well as the galleries and museums that support them. As such, it was complimented by a varied programme of events including gallery tours, artist-led workshops, curator talks and group discussions, which all addressed contemporary issues surrounding gender inequality within London. The research we gathered, available on this website, continues to provide an objective basis and useful resource for discourse on women in the arts in London.
